Company Background
Matanzas Geosciences, Inc. (MATANZAS) is a
state-licensed geological firm under license number GB489 and is
incorporated in the state of Florida. MATANZAS was established in the
summer of 2004 as an environmental consulting firm providing complete
environmental assessment and contamination assessment services. Our primary
business services include: environmental due diligence; contamination
assessments; hydrogeological and geological assessments; geotechnical
investigations, underground storage tank removals; and source removals.
MATANZAS’ clients include developers, financial institutions, architects,
civil engineers, mining companies, commercial real estate companies, marinas
and many private business owners.
Number of Years in Existence
MATANZAS has been in business since early
August 2004. Relevant projects completed during this short time frame
include 80 Phase I ESAs, 15 Limited Phase II ESAs, several geotechnical
investigations and wildlife and biological surveys for National
Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) clearance. Our corporate office is located
at 88 Riberia Street in a historic cigar factory in downtown St. Augustine,
Florida.

Bruce Hallett PhD, P.G.;
Principal/Geologist
Areas of Experience:
Qualifications include over 13 years
experience in the environmental consulting field. Specific experience
includes: geologic mapping, due diligence evaluations, environmental site
characterizations, CERCLA/RCRA investigations for Superfund facilities,
environmental remediation, geotechnical investigations, water resource
development and database development and population. He has extensive and
varied experience related to the petroleum, real estate, manufacturing,
mining, and development industries. He is experienced in a wide range of
environmental disciplines including groundwater modeling, contaminant
transport, and environmental compliance and permitting at the local, state,
and federal levels. Dr. Hallett has designed, gained regulatory approval,
and successfully implemented contaminant work plans at varied locations in
Northeast Florida.
Stephanie
Helburn; Senior Project Manager
Areas of Experience:
Qualifications include over four years experience with
Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments in South Carolina,
Georgia, and Florida; inspections of erosion and sediment control practices
for large and small construction activities; assessment and remediation of
soil and groundwater by petroleum constituents; inspections for asbestos
containing building materials for demolition and renovation projects; and
has actively participated in projects related to petroleum hydrocarbon site
assessments requiring remediation and risk-based corrective action. She has
developed plan tasks: supervised and trained field personnel; prepared cost
estimates and budget analysis; evaluated data collected in the field for
remediation of contaminated groundwater and soil; and corresponded with
clients and regulatory agencies. She has experience in supervising and
scheduling assessment activities, supervising on-site subcontractors,
collecting, analyzing, and compiling field data, and has prepared a wide
range of technical reports that include Phase I and Phase II environmental
site assessment reports, comprehensive site assessment and site
characterization reports, and closure reports.
Katharine
Gray; Project Manager
Areas of Experience:
Qualifications include over 6 years
experience in the environmental consulting field. Specific experience
includes: historical and municipal research and hazardous waste site
assessments of residential and commercial properties, Department of
Environmental Protection research, and subsurface investigations. Ms Gray
has completed a significant number of Phase I Environmental Site Assessments
according to ASTM protocols throughout, Northeast Florida,
Massachusetts, Connecticut, and New Hampshire.
These projects were performed under demanding time constraints, and the
appropriate recommendations were presented to clients regarding the
potential regulatory and environmental exposures and liability. Ms. Gray
has also completed numerous subsurface evaluations including soil boring and
monitoring well installations and has overseen the excavation and proper
removal of contaminated soils.
